The Grey Room
The album "The Grey Room" is an album I am currently working on and is an album influenced by the John Foxx album "Metamatic" and Gary Numan's albums "Replicas" and "Telekon".
I started this album 2 years ago but recently took a 6 month break from recording it, however, by Spring 2010 I will be aiming to complete the album and making it available to those who are interested in it.
The bulk of the album is in the main influenced by John Foxx with songs recorded such as "A Million Stars", "Car Crash Flashback, "The Grey Room", "Secret Annexe", "A Face I Knew" and "The Glimmer Man" definitely having a John Foxx feel about them, Whilst the songs "I Once Was A Machine" and "I Remember You" are definitely influenced by early Gary numan material.
The album is being recorded with vintage analog Synthesizers such as Native Instruments Pro 53 (A Software version of the Prophet 5), the Arp2600 (Software version of the Arp oddesey), numerous early 80's Drum Machines such as the Roland CR79, Roland 808 and Roland 909 as well as a few other classic Drum Machines and Synths.
The whole project is being recorded using Steinberg's Cubase, a programme I spent 2 years learning and has to be one of the best music production programme's ever!
I am using a host of VST effects and Mastering tools to try and make the production as good as I can for a home recording, everything is digitally recorded with most of the mastering done using Sound Forge 9.
